Mumble rappers 20173/28/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The words “Gucci Gang” are repeated 53 times in the song. That’s really all rapper Lil Pump says in his recent hit song. ![]() “Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang.” Lyrics aren't that important? Nah, Desiigner is just better.Although mumble rap has been denounced for lack of lyrics and inauthecity by critics, many enjoy the heard beates associated with the style By that same logic, since lyrics matter so much, Desiigner is better than Bethoven because Desiigner at least has lyrics, Bethovens shit is only an instrumental. If you want hippity hoppity listen to Em but dont gatekeep music because you don't like mumble rap. If you want to get hyped listen to some Carti, if you want to drive drunk and in your feels listen to some Travis Scott, if you want some meaningful shit listen to Kendrick. Everything he does, someone else does better except the "hippity hoppity, lyrical spiritual mystical individual" shit that honestly i just don't care about. Is anything he raps about lately enjoyable and does it have any artistic value musically? Hell no, he sounds grumpy, old and like the same old Marshall Mathers just 20 years past his relevancy. Now lets take a look at a "good" rapper like Eminem. Top all of this off with some godlike producing and you get a great "mUmBlE rAp" project. Carti brings so much energy with his vocals and adlibs that you can't help but feel hyped. The album is filled with bangers and never gets boring. Every track even though pretty basic thematically and lyrically, is able to stand out. His project Whole Lotta Red has a genuine theme musically with those 8-bit synths coming together to make what is basically a 90s video game soundtrack. This sounds like a person who heard about Playboi Carti from someone else who heard about him from someone else who listened to him. People say "sampling is lazy, just learn to play instruments" but the right sample helps the target audience connect more with the song. I think most Trap beats don't even really use samples much anymore. I've never heard a Trap beat that made me feel sonically energized.īusta Rhymes - Fire It Up used to make me SPAZ THE FXXK OUT because it has the theme from Knight Rider in the beat. Like there's a factory churning them out from an Assembly Line. Trap Beats just sound incredibly generic. Bus Driver).Įven Biggie with his mainstream East Coast version of Gangsta Rap still had better beats. Masta Ace had better beats (On Da Grind, Mr. Trap Beats are not pleasing to listen to. To copy another artist was like a cardinal sin, and now - everyone sounds the same. I generally don't like the "hibbity-kibbity-dippity" flow that EVERYONE and their grandmother uses.Īt least the old-school rappers didn't all bite off and copy THE SAME EXACT FLOW. It's more like the weird Dream Gibberish my brain says as I'm trying to fall asleep.Įminem is "over-rated" in some people's opinion, but even in a song such as Speedom where he's saying words faster than The Flash can run, I can still make out what he's saying. ![]() I have to strain to listen for "words" and even when the video has the lyrics in text on the screen I still don't hear "words." Playboi Carti sounds like he is speaking an alien language.Ħ45AR sounds like Alvin & The Chipmunks huffed a bunch of Helium balloons. ![]()
